November 2023 Newsletter

When I got into medical school, my father told me, “You are very lucky—you will see slices of life and different types of people that few people get to see, and you’ll be able to make a difference in their lives.” He was right. We work hard to deliver great surgical and nonsurgical results, and the real reward is a happy patient. The most common phrases we hear are “I feel more confident,” and “This is life-changing.” Even those patients who point out something that we could have done better help us grow—as surgeons, as medspa clinicians, and as a practice. As we count the days left to order a turkey (or make a restaurant reservation!), all of us at PSA and Allegro wish to extend our gratitude to you, our patients, and our patients-to-be.

P.S. We look forward to seeing you at our annualBlack Thursday Event (“BTE”) on November 9, 11AM – 6PM. Haven’t RSVPed? Better call now! We’re almost at Fire Marshal capacity! A portion of the profits will go towards the First Responders Resiliency, Inc., featured in our next article.

Imagine experiencing the stress and trauma of being a first responder. Susan Farren, a former paramedic, and Joel Fay, a psychologist and retired police officer, didn’t have to imagine it—they knew.
In 2018, they launched First Responders Resiliency, Inc. in Cotati, offering a proactive, science-based approach to overcome the trauma and stress that fire fighters and law enforcement individuals and their families experience. Farren calls it “biohacking” — developing pathways around the fight-or-flight response, allowing the mind and body to relax

This year, a portion ofBTE profits will go to Sonoma County’s First Responders Resiliency, a program that has helped 6,500 first responders overcome post-traumatic stress disorder, including hundreds from Sonoma County.

The most surprising thing most people don’t know about me is I do family and portrait photography in my free time. I was even lucky enough to photograph for some wineries in Sonoma and Napa after moving out here.
My co-workers would describe me as overly perky in the early morning because a) I’m always eager to work and b) I’m thrilled to be off of childcare for the day.

My hidden talent is definitely baking. Especially my famous gluten free chocolate

chip cookies I’ve worked on for a decade! And extreme planning skills for each person in my family, travel, school PSOs, and so on and so on!!
The biggest influence on me is my 3 children, ages 9, 7 and 4. They drive me every day and are my motivation to do great things. My favorite quote is “let it go” from the movie “Frozen”, I sing it to them daily over some sort of tantrum! The words I try to live by are slow down and focus on this day/moment/year. It goes by so fast!!
The thing I like best about Sonoma County is all the outdoor opportunities. We recently moved here from Orlando, Fl and could never spend as much time outside in parks, coastline, mountains and snow like this! Every different climate with no humidity for exploring with a family is incredible.
The secret to a great life is my kids kittens that I fell in love with A Siberian and a Balinese that are both glued to us and completely hypoallergenic. Never thought I’d have cats!
My favorite dish to prepare is my grandmothers chili over rice. Total comfort food from Minnesota that makes any day better.
The best thing about working for PSA is the people, hands down. Staff and patients! As a nurse I love connecting with such lovely patients and working together with a great medical team like this.
My favorite procedure/treatment is BBL laser with good skin care. It changed my freckles for the better!

When we think of neurotoxins like Botox, we think of improving frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines, but they can do other amazing things, too. Neurotoxins, like Dysport and Daxxify, can also improve the appearance of overexposed gum in your smile and can make thin lips appear fuller. Neurotoxins spread throughout your muscles for soft & relaxed movement, dramatically improving severe fine lines and wrinkles and restoring volume for a youthful look.

What Our Patients Are Saying “I had a great experience at Allegro MedSpa of Santa Rosa. The staff were all very friendly and Karen who did my injections was outstanding.”
