Sagging Breasts & Breast Rejuvenation
A lot of women come in asking about what they can do about sagging breasts. They usually say they want perky breasts. We could do a lot in plastic surgery, but unfortunately there are limits to what we can do. A lot really depends on where the nipple lies relative to the fold.
In women without sagging the nipples are above the fold, or crease beneath the breast. Some women complain of sagging when they've merely lost volume. A breast augmentation restores that volume. When the nipples are at the fold a breast augmentation can fill out the skin envelope rejuvenating the breast. Once the nipple falls below the fold, however, a breast augmentation can round out the shape, but a nipple lift, or donut mastopexy may be needed to create a perkier look. For women with very saggy breasts a breast lift and a breast augmentation together can give the rounded lifted look the patient wants. For women with large heavy breasts a breast reduction also lifts the breast.
Your own tissue has a big impact on the results. Having reasonable expectations for treatment of the sagging breast is the key to patient satisfaction.
