About Labia Majoraplasty
Learn more about labia majoraplasty in Northern California.
The labia majoraplasty is performed to recontour and resize the labia majora, or the outer, hair-bearing portion of the vagina.
Many women decide to undergo this procedure at Plastic Surgery Associates of Santa Rosa every year because they are unhappy or self-conscious about the contours of their intimate area. In many cases, an abnormally shaped labia can also cause great discomfort when wearing tight clothing , yoga pants, or during intercourse. Board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Francisco Canales and Dr. Heather Furnas want you to be able to live your best life, which is why they are proud to offer labia majoraplasty. If you’d like to schedule a private consultation to learn more, call our office in Santa Rosa, California today.
Here’s a look at the ideal candidate for a labia Majoraplasty in Northern California.
A one-on-one consultation will be scheduled at Plastic Surgery Associates of Santa Rosa with Dr. Furnas or Dr. Canales to determine if you are a good candidate for a labia majoraplasty.
During this appointment, we will come to understand your unique situation and medical history. After discussing your aesthetic desires, we will explain what you can expect from the procedure, as well as the recovery requirements. We will share a variety of before-and-after photographs of labia majoraplasty patients to assist in visualizing your own results. If it is determined that a labia majoraplasty is right for you, a personalized treatment plan will be created.
How it works
Once you are prepped for surgery, Dr. Furnas and/or Dr. Canales will remove excess skin and protruding fatty tissue.
In cases where additional volume is needed, a fat transfer can be used to increase the shape of the labia majora. Once the targeted area is contoured to the predetermined aesthetic shape, the incisions are closed using absorbable sutures. Depending on the patient and the techniques included, a labia majoraplasty will take approximately one hour to perform.
What to Expect
Here’s what to expect with a labia majoraplasty in Northern California.
After your treatment
Women should expect the recovery from a labia majoraplasty to take from 1 – 2 weeks. Swelling is expected, and some patients may experience bruising and mild discomfort. These symptoms should improve dramatically over the first 5 – 7 days. However, residual swelling can last for six months or longer.
If needed, prescription medication can be prescribed for pain, however, many women find over-the-counter pain relief to be adequate. Intermittent ice packs used 20 minutes ‘on’ and 20 minutes ‘off’ can be useful to reduce swelling as is keeping the bottom elevated when lying down. A surgical garment may be recommended to keep swelling down, as well.
The results from a labia majoraplasty can be significant, as a smaller, tighter labia majora is created. Drooping, protruding tissue is eliminated, creating a smoother and more proportionate appearance to the vulva. Discomfort from tight clothing, exercise, and sexual activity is greatly improved. These results will last for years to come.
From Our Clients
Outstanding staff. Absolutely loved dr Furnas. Great communication, great environment and atmosphere I can sit more comfortable. Easier to keep clean, also sex life is more comfortable.
My experience with PSA was wonderful. The staff is warm and inviting. And they all strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible. The office is clean and well kept as well. When i went to Dr. Furnas i was a little nervous due to the type of procedure i was having. I first saw her for labiaplasty, now if you know what labiaplasty is I’m sure you can see why i was nervous and a little embarrassed. But in my case i was to uncomfortable in that area not to see someone about it. Looking back on it now i really wish i had met and saw Dr. Furnas sooner. She made me feel safe and comfortable. And after the procedure was done i absolutely loved my results. i was able to finally be active comfortably. I had also undergone breast augmentation by Dr. furnas and was pleasantly please on the results of that as well. She is very professional and a true artist. i highly Recommend her.
Very informative and friendly staff
