This 45 year-old Santa Rosa woman was unhappy with both her breast shape and breast size. She wore a large B-cup bra that was slightly undersized even for her fit, healthy frame, but after having a child, her breasts were also left saggy and empty-looking. Many mothers experience this effect as a result of the breasts' swelling during pregnancy, but women who breastfeed often see even more dramatic changes in both the position and volume of their breasts. To find out more about how cosmetic surgery could correct her sagging breasts, she requested a consultation with a Napa-area plastic surgeon. This particular patient wanted to avoid a more extensive "anchor" mastopexy, so together with her surgeon, she decided on breast augmentation with saline implants as well as a circumareolar ("donut") breast lift. At our Santa Rosa plastic surgery suite, she underwent bilateral breast augmentation with smooth saline implants to increase her breast size. She also had a donut mastopexy procedure. This type of breast lift surgery can be very effective to improve the position of breasts that sag mildly, although it involves fewer incisions and creates less dramatic results than the "anchor" or "lollipop" approaches. Her implants were filled to 410 cc on the right side and 420 cc on the left. This patient enjoyed a speedy recovery from her Napa-area cosmetic breast surgery. Patients undergoing a breast lift or breast augmentation can expect to return to work within 7 to 14 days, although combination procedures will sometimes require a little longer for the body to adjust to both procedures together. After surgery, this patient has a significant improvement in both shape and size. She is happy with her natural-looking results and is very pleased to be able to wear a full D-cup bra.
